Dr. Orton grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho. After serving in the Navy for 10 years, he established his private practice in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego. While in the Navy, he was responsible for training new dentists in advanced endodontic techniques and held several leadership positions. He received many awards including the Navy Achievement Medal and Navy Commendation Medal. He has given lectures and presented research to numerous dental organizations. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and San Diego County Dental Society.

Dr. Orton enjoys being outdoors (skiing, snowboarding, surfing, climbing, biking, backpacking, etc.), playing the piano and spending time with his wife and four children. He has also been somewhat fluent at one time or another in Spanish, Italian, and Greek.
